Dr. Derek A. Colley

Dr. Derek A. Colley is a data scientist, educator, and consultant specialising in relational database systems, data architecture, enterprise cybersecurity, and applied machine learning. He earned his Ph.D. for introducing machine learning/AI methodologies into the PostgreSQL engine, alongside holding postgraduate qualifications in Computing, Information Security and Digital Forensics, and Higher and Professional Education teaching, and has published in ADVANCE HE and other venues.

Dr. Colley leads Global Technologists Ltd, which provides both technical training and specialist technical consultancy services including enterprise database design, secure data migration frameworks, large-scale cloud migrations to multinational clients. Over more than two decades, his work has included national-scale data warehouse and platform engineering of mission-critical data platforms, combining academic rigour with active industrial delivery.
